Helpful hints & FAQ's

1. Why is an EVENT roster important and how do I create one?

Creating an EVENT roster in GotSoccer will allow team managers to remove non-participating players and add guest players to the event application. This will ensure player information is correct on the printed game cards and tournament related information but also for player safety and insurance purposes.

To create an event roster, begin by navigating to the event application from your team GotSoccer account. Once in the event application, navigate to the roster tab. You should see a drop down option to select the roster you would like to use for the event. Use the drop down to select "event roster" then enter your player information. You should be able to select players from your official league roster and add guest players if you have them.   Most organizations lock out default or league rosters so it is important to create an event roster if you intend to use guest players. If experiencing difficulties, contact either your club registrar or Gotsoccer at Tel: 904-746-4446

2. Can I register my team after the deadline?

Yes. The registration link will remain open to accept teams but teams that register after the deadline may not be accepted into the event. The tournament director will review late registrations but may wait list teams depending on several factors--including late registration.   For this reason it is best to register as early as possible. Wait listed teams will not be charged a registration fee unless they are accepted into the tournament. It is not uncommon for a team to drop a week or two prior to the tournament. If this happens, the director will look first to the wait listed teams for a possible replacement team. In short, there is no charge to register after the deadline but there is a greater chance your team may be offered a spot in the event than if you don't register at all.

3. Can a player play without a US Club or USYSA Valid player card?

Yes. We can still accept players that do not have a valid players card from either US Club or USYSA associations.  However, they MUST be uploaded into Gotsoccer as a guest player. Please check out the Check in page for details on adding guest players.

4. When will I know if my team has been accepted?

Teams are accepted once the team registration fee has been received and processed. For some tournaments and age groups, the tournament committee may delay acceptance depending on several factors to include competition level and number of teams who have applied.

5. Do team managers need to provide game cards?

No. The tournament will print game cards and provide them to the referee site coordinator. The winning team (home team in the case of a tie) will be responsible for calling in and returning the game card to the HQ tents provided on each play site.

6. What color does the home team wear?

Tournament rules state that home team (the team listed first on the schedule) will wear their darker uniform and the visitors will wear their lighter colored uniforms. In the case of new teams or order delays, clubs should make every effort to ensure each player has a unique jersey number and that the uniforms are as similar as possible. The away team will change in case of any conflict.

7. How do the scores get updated after each game?

Each winning team, or home team in the event of a tie will call the scores into Gotsoccer via the call in service. That information can be located in the rules section and also will be e-mailed out to team managers and team points of contact. It is also on each game card and the QR code can also be used as a direct way to report scores. All scores should be verified before calling in and once complete, turn the completed game card into any of the HQ tents at any location within 1 hour of the game being complete. HQ volunteers will verify scores and file the cards accordingly. Any red and/or yellow cards will be entered in at the HQ tent and teams contacted individually about possible player suspensions. All cards and scores are reported to US Club soccer.

7. How do I get access scores and standings?

Visit the tournament website and click on schedule/standings. Scores are updated in real time, so when scores are called in, it will automatically update the website and standings. No postings of scores or standings will be onsite and team managers and coaches are encouraged to point parents and teams to the website for updates and standings.
